Join the growing local conservation movement
đź“Ł Calling all landowners in the Highlands Corridor and surrounding 5km buffer (see map). We are looking for your support to protect the lands and waters of this unique and beautiful landscape. By participating in our Partners in Conservation program, you will be joining a group of passionate landowners who care for their land and are concerned about loss of biodiversity and climate change.
Your Actions Matter
Recognizing that 40,000 hectares of Highlands Corridor is private land, landowners like yourself play a key role in protecting these precious ecosystems. Your land connects to and influences the wider landscape of watersheds and habitats. By practicing good land stewardship, you are helping create greater connectivity between private land and Crown land to the benefit of all wildlife.
Examples of Good Land Stewardship
Planting a pollinator garden
Maintaining your trails responsibly
Naturalizing your shoreline
Mounting nesting boxes for birds and bats
Removing invasive species
Maintaining habitat diversity
Your Voice Matters
By working together we can drive positive change for the health of our natural ecosystems. Add your support to our efforts to gain conservation reserve designation for the 60,000 hectares of unceded Crown land in the Highlands Corridor.

"As a private landowner I am pleased to be a "Partner in Conservation". Over the years I would encounter a large number of rare plants and animals on my property. So it was really exciting to learn that the Highlands Corridor is home to as many as 39 endangered or threatened species at risk. The work the HHLT and its partners do is so important because government isn’t doing enough to protect the habitats of these species."

"I moved to the Haliburton Highlands in my early twenties in 1975 for a fire crew position. It did not take me long to fall in love with the natural beauty, the abundant wildlife and natural pace of the area. I have now built a home, raised a family and still I am in wonderment of the incredible beauty found here, from our friendly chickadees, to a howling wolf, a moose in the driveway, or a deer in our garden.
I believe we all need to strive in any way we can to protect our gifts of nature therefore I totally support the efforts of the Haliburton Highlands Land Trust who are striving to protect and preserve this incredible biodiversity in the Highlands Corridor."
